Before you begin, remember
- Watch the difference between a ratio and a fraction: in a ratio of 3:5, the first share is three eighths of the whole, not three fifths.
- Add the parts first. For a ratio of 3:5 there are 8 parts in total, so divide the amount by 8 to find the value of one part.
